Today the President of the Associazione Italiana Arbitri [AIA] has confirmed that the technology won’t be used, but it will be live for Serie A next season, pending approval.

“The news is this: we’ll start with VAR from the first day of next season, moving it forward a year,” Marcello Nicchi announced at the end of the FIGC federal council meeting.

“We’re waiting for approval from the International Football Association Board. For the Coppa Italia final it won’t be there.”
