Gian Piero Gasperini wants his Atalanta players to show improvement and to stop conceding so many goals.

Sunday’s 3-0 defeat at Cagliari means La Dea have now shipped ten Serie A goals in just four games, more than any other team in Italy’s top flight.

“We must improve, unfortunately we have started badly,” Gasperini said post-match in Sardinia. “We need to be more solid and concede less goals.

“Talking about a disaster at this stage of the season seems exaggerated. It’s an even League and one victory can change things.”

Gasperini also believes the game against the Rossoblu could have ended differently had Alberto Paloschi converted a penalty with the score at 1-0.

“We were reacting well and equalising at that moment would have made it different.

“Unfortunately it went how it did and that mistake definitely shaped our performance.”
