FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio confirmed that Giampiero Ventura will be the next Italy CT.

It was announced in March that current Coach Antonio Conte will leave the Azzurri post after the European Championship in France this summer, as he'll take over at Chelsea.

That led to a hunt for his successor, and the former Torino Coach had been linked to the Azzurri for several weeks, making today's announcement no surprise at this stage.

"We chose him because he has moral qualities and manages the group very well," Tavecchio said, as reported by il Messaggero. The appointment was also confirmed in the official minutes of today's meeting.

The Coach has signed a two-year deal with the FIGC, thought to be worth around €1.3m per season.

Ventura will be working with a technical director, which was widely expected to be World Cup-winner Marcello Lippi.

However, it emerged today that a conflict of interest related to his agent son, Davide, could scupper any deal.
