The situation in Sicily has been chaotic over the last few months, ever since Beppe Iachini was sacked in November.

His replacement Davide Ballardini was axed just over a month later following a row with captain Stefano Sorrentino.

Fabio Viviani, Iachini’s former assistant manager, was appointed caretaker for the 4-0 defeat to Genoa.

He was then removed from that position and Primavera youth team Coach Giovanni Bosi was on the bench for Sunday’s 4-1 win over Frosinone.

Schelotto still doesn’t have the necessary paperwork to be registered as Palermo Coach, so until then Tedesco will be their official tactician.

“Thanks from the heart to all the Rosanero fans for the many messages of affection I’ve been receiving since last night!” wrote former Palermo player Tedesco on his Facebook page.

“You are marvellous… it’s like scoring a goal in the derby.”

Tedesco took control of his first training session today and technically becomes Palermo’s fifth Coach of the campaign.

It’s reported Palermo will try to register Schelotto as a director so he can sit on the bench during games, though Tedesco will still nominally be the Coach.
