Inter are evaluating Marseille defender Nicolas Nkoulou as a potential replacement for Andrea Ranocchia.

While Ranocchia is almost certain to leave the Nerazzurri in the winter, keen as he is to secure a starting spot that may take him to Euro 2016, there is the option that one more centre-back could be sold too.

Should that happen, Inter would be forced back onto the market for a new defender, and according to FcInterNews.it, the new name that commands their attention is that of Nkoulou, a Roberto Mancini favourite.

Part of the Cameroonian's appeal is the fact that his price-tag of €10m could be negotiated into a lower figure, bearing in mind that the player's contract expires in the summer.

But much remains to be seen, as Inter still view Nkoulou as an option rather than a target, and as the player himself is performing well enough that OM may be reluctant to sell him.
