Josip Ilicic swears his loyalty to Fiorentina: 'We don't have great consideration, but I believe we're the best'.

With nine goals to his name and an impressive ratio of one goal per 109 minutes, the 27-year-old Slovenian trequartista is one of the brighter aspects of Paulo Sousa's high-octane Viola.

“I want to stay in Florence for a long time and I want to win here, because I never lifted a trophy,” he confirmed in an interview with Il Messaggero. “The club will speak with my agent and I hope something good can happen.

“Against Lazio we always had trouble, but we want to win so we can become the winter champions, assuming things go the right way in Inter's game.

“Sousa is excellent, not least in handling the team and solving problems.

“It's true that Fiorentina don't enjoy a very high consideration [by the rest of Serie A], but we're playing an extraordinary football that hadn't been seen in Italy for years.

“They may think our squad isn't strong enough, but I believe we're the best.

“As for the Europa League, this time round it's going to be harder against Tottenham. But we've got no excuses: after last year's semi-final, this year we're aiming for the final in Basel.”
