Inter have won their FIFA arbitration case against Sunderland, revealed Ricky Alvarez’s father.

However, as the Argentine spent most of the campaign out injured following surgery, Sunderland argued the clause was no longer valid.

The two clubs have been battling for months, as Alvarez spent last season on loan at Sunderland with an option to buy that would be mandatory if they stayed in the Premier League.

However, as the Argentine spent most of the campaign out injured following surgery, Sunderland argued the clause was no longer valid.

“Ricky had a contract with Inter, but FIFA accepted their appeal, so in December when the market for free agents opens he’ll be available to negotiate with any club,” Carlos Alvarez told Diario Hoy.

“Ricky was training with Velez Sarsfield with Russo in charge, but the situation changed when Basedas took over because the club decided to focus on its own youth academy.”
