Nigel De Jong says he renewed with Milan in order to fight for the Scudetto – ‘I believe in this new project’.
The Dutch international had been expected to leave this summer, but instead signed a new contract to stay until 2018.
“I’ve had time to think about my future,” De Jong said in a Press conference on Milan’s pre-season trip to China.

“I thought it was best to stay. I’m happy, and so are my family. I believe in this new project.
“We’ll get back into Europe, and we’ll fight for the title. That’s why I’m here.”
