Lorenzo Insigne scored a hat-trick as Napoli won their first friendly of the season 8-0 against Anaune.

Coach Maurizio Sarri debuted his new 4-3-1-2 system with Insigne as a trequartista behind the two strikers.

It’s a role that seems to suit him well, as the pint-sized Italian bagged a first half hat-trick.

He combined with Manolo Gabbiadini, then fired one in from the edge of the box and eventually was set up by Jose Callejon.

Gabbiadini had several close calls in the first half, including a goalline clearance, before finally breaking through with an angled drive.

Dries Mertens came on for the second half and made an immediate impact with a stunning free kick, then got to the by-line and pulled back for Gabbiadini to score his second.

The Belgian completed his brace too with a delightful first touch to control Jorginho’s chipped pass.

Youth team player Alfredo Bifulco completed the 8-0 rout with an easy tap-in after Mertens and Omar El Kaddouri exchanged passes.
