“This squad dug deep to find something within ourselves, because to be honest we didn’t see the ball that much today,” confessed the midfielder to Sky Sport Italia.
“We fought hard and battled for the victory, but we need to get some better ideas and improve next season, as this Lazio is a scary side.
"We could well have played for the draw if Lazio had sat back more, but seeing as they attacked us, we went for them on the counter."
De Rossi hailed Juan Manuel Iturbe for scoring the opening goal, his first since October 2014.
“I am so happy for him, as he’s been through a lot this season. All these accountants suddenly sprung up all over the city complaining that he cost €20m.
“That much pressure and criticism can weigh on someone so young. I am glad he got this goal to shake some of that off.”
Francesco Totti celebrated with a special T-Shirt after the final whistle. The front read: 'You are always talking, what more are you going to invent?' On the back it said: 'Game over.'
