The patron spoke to Japanese newspaper The Yomiuri Shimbun about their difficult campaign and recent supporter protests.

“The fans are our heart, the players our muscles, the management team our brain. We all work together for the good of the team,” assured Thohir.

“Our fans deserve respect, as do their expectations – which are the same as ours. That’s what we’re working towards.”

There had been reports this week that former patron Massimo Moratti was trying to buy the club back, but both parties denied the story.

“Moratti made Inter great,” noted Thohir. “He’s a symbolic figure. I’m trying to do my part to help take this club back to the top.”
