Parma v Udinese has officially been called off for Sunday afternoon on the orders of the FIGC and local authorities.

It was meant to kick off on Sunday at 14.00 GMT, but has now been formally postponed.

The Mayor of Parma had initially denied a decision had been taken, but this evening the Federation released a statement on the matter.

FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio personally made the call after hearing from the authorities that it could only be played behind closed doors.

This is because Parma in their current financial crisis cannot afford to pay stewards or security costs, only just able to guarantee electricity for the floodlights.

“Having spoken to the Italian Players’ Association and Italian Coaches’ Association, who expressed the problems both squads and Coaches had in playing behind closed doors, plus the Mayor of Parma and in agreement with the Lega Serie A, we made this decision.”

The game has been postponed to a later date, still to be decided.

This situation means there is the genuine possibility Parma might not be able to play any more games this season.

If that is the case, seeing as the campaign is already over half-way through, the rules state all future fixtures involving Parma will see their opponents handed a 3-0 victory.

All previous results achieved against them will continue to stand.
