Mimmo Di Carlo said Cesena are “on the right track” after a second consecutive victory, beating European contenders Lazio 2-1.

The Sea Horses hadn’t won since the opening weekend, but have now seen off both Parma and Lazio in as many rounds.

“We played against a great team and knew we’d need a high tempo against Lazio, otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to contain them,” Coach Di Carlo told Rai Sport.

“We played against a great team and knew we’d need a high tempo against Lazio, otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to contain them,” Coach Di Carlo told Rai Sport.

“I hoped Lazio would play with a lower tempo and we surprised them by pressing hard on the second balls and the final third.

“We did everything the right way and I am very happy, as we gave a sense of consistency to the side after last week’s win at Parma.

“I am happy for everyone, the players and fans, as we all wanted this victory so much. We are on the right track and improving in terms of tactics and physicality.

“We must continue like this to climb back up the table.”
