However, according to Sky, an agreement has been reached between Everton, Sampdoria and Eto’o at a meeting in Paris, and the former Inter man will return to Serie A.
The news outlet states that a medical could take place as soon as Monday, with the Ligurian side hoping to have Eto’o available for the Coppa Italia tie with Inter on Wednesday.
It had previously been speculated that Eto’o will take a wage cut of around 40 per cent to make the deal happen.
