Former Fiorentina director Mario Sconcerti says La Viola are ‘too far behind’ to achieve Champions League qualification.

Sconcerti signed up as the club’s director general at the end of 2000 under the ownership of media mogul Vittorio Cecchi Gori, but he resigned after only six months at the helm.

Asked about the current Fiorentina squad, the veteran spoke about the team's lack of continuity.

“When they play well they are better than the others,” Sconcerti admitted.

“When they play well they are better than the others,” Sconcerti admitted.

“But when they play badly, they are irritating.

“In this moment they are not credible for the third place, because they are too far behind in the standings.”

Fiorentina are currently ninth in the League, six points away from third-place holders Genoa.
