Former Inter President Massimo Moratti denies he has anything to do with Tommaso Giulini’s imminent takeover of Cagliari.
Businessman Giulini has agreed to buy the Sardinian club for a fee of around €45m from new Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino.
However, in an interview at the University of Cagliari today, Moratti said he is not in any way involved with the consortium behind the bid.
“No, the Moratti’s are not behind the new buyers of Cagliari,” he told reporters. “I know Giulini well, he is a capable and intelligent person.
“I would be pleased if he could become a successful President.”
Moratti also joked about the imminent departure of Cellino from Italian football.
“Will Italian football lose something? Definitely, but it’s to our gain!”
