The Rossoneri played the friendly test in France this afternoon and were fortunate to keep the scoreline down thanks to the saves of goalkeeper Gabriel.
“It’s a shame, because when you play it should always be to get a result,” said Allegri.
“In the first half we made several mistakes and overall it was not a good game. I was interested to see those who were returning from injuries or hadn’t played as much. I knew with so many kids on the field we’d risk an embarrassment.
“In football technique is not enough. You also need character, hunger and enthusiasm. When called upon, a player must always give their best. If people play like this, then they can't ask me for more time on the field.”
Milan should have Kaka and Valter Birsa available for the next Serie A match against Udinese, while doubts remain over Matias Silvestre and Mattia De Sciglio.
“It’s not a positive moment, but we have to stay calm and get through it,” continued Allegri.
“Gabriel, Riccardo Saponara, Mastalli and above all Rondanini played well today. Rondanini had the right spirit that all players ought to have when they step on to the field.
“Even if it is just a friendly, the players must give a response to the Coach. I am not naming anyone in particular, but as a team we played very badly. This sort of performance is unacceptable.”
