The Beneamata have started the season brightly, with some believing they could challenge the likes of Juventus and Napoli for the title.

“When the team is doing well, some predictions are inevitable, but we must not be distracted by talk of the Scudetto,” he told the Corriere dello Sport.

“If we work hard, always think as a team and sacrifice ourselves for each other, the results will come,” he added.

“To return to the Champions League is a big motivation, but we must not think too much about it. Our goal is to make the best of every game.

“We are working to become a better and more consistent team. We can reach a high level if we follow the Coach.”

The appointment of Walter Mazzarri is being cited as the main reason why a side who finished ninth last term are competitive again.

“First and foremost, we have a new Coach, the starting point for a fresh start,” the Colombian stated when asked what had changed since the dismissal of Andrea Stramaccioni.

“Then we work very differently from the way we did previously. Mazzarri is meticulous with details and makes sure we are prepared for every game.

“During each training session, we work hard to improve. We have done it since the first day of training camp and the results have shown that we have done it right, but we can’t stop there.”
