Marcos Alonso’s agent has confirmed “he is very, very close to Fiorentina,” as his contract with Bolton Wanderers will expire in June.

The Viola had already approached Bolton for the 22-year-old Spaniard in January, but opted to hold fire until he became a free agent at the end of the season.

“Yes, Fiorentina are very, very close,” his agent and father Marcos Alonso Pena told TMW.

“We were in Florence for the first time in December to talk to the Viola. Marcos now wants to end the season with Bolton in a relaxed fashion, trying to do his best work as a professional to take the club into the Premier League.”

It seems as if Alonso’s move to the Stadio Artemio Franchi is only weeks away and he joins fellow Spanish midfielder Borja Valero.

Alonso can play on the left side of defence or midfield.
