Playing for Italy at the 2014 World Cup is the target for Napoli attacking sensation Lorenzo Insigne.

The forward was given his first full cap by Cesare Prandelli in the September win over Malta, but he has since been recalled to the Under-21 set-up.

“The World Cup next year is the objective for the future,” his agent, Antonio Ottaiano, told Radio Gol on Thursday.

“He wants to convince Prandelli even if, for the time being, Lorenzo is just concentrating on the Azzurrini and his Napoli side.”

Insigne is set to be a key player for Devis Mangia’s U-21 set-up at this summer’s European Championship in Israel.

Insigne returned to parent club Napoli at the start of this season after spells out on loan at Cavese, Foggia and Pescara.

Insigne, who became a father overnight, has scored four goals in 30 League appearances for Walter Mazzarri’s side.
