The 22-year-old Neapolitan student at the centre of the Edinson Cavani saga insists they are not having an affair after she was harassed by angry fans.
Cavani’s recent goal drought hit the headlines and Italian newspapers suggested the reason for his downturn in form was a love triangle with his wife Maria Soledad and 22-year-old student Stefania Fummo.
Now she has taken legal action against the media and insisted the story “is absolutely false and defamatory.
“The media exposure has seen her become the victim of worrying incidents. Some created a false Facebook profile for her, others tried to hack into her Twitter account, downloaded and published private photographs.
“Some even accessed her phone records in the vain hope of finding traces of conversations with Cavani.
“As the photographs were published, Stefania has been threatened and insulted in public, so much that she has had to suspend her university classes.”
