Italy’s medical staff have released updates on Ignazio Abate, Claudio Marchisio and Alessio Cerci ahead of the World Cup qualifier with Malta.
The Azzurri fought back for a thrilling 2-2 friendly draw with Brazil last night, but some players picked up knocks.
“Abate did not train today due to a problem in the right thigh, but he will have recovered for tomorrow’s session,” announced chief medic Professor Enrico Castellacci.
“The same is true of Marchisio, who was out of yesterday’s game after suffering from tonsillitis and a high fever. He trained in the gym today.
“Meanwhile, Cerci did not train due to a bruise to the right femoral bicep, but it is not a concern ahead of the game with Malta.”
Italy visit Malta in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday evening.
