Buenos Aires-based newspaper Ole have claimed that the 27-year-old could be on the verge of joining compatriot Mauro Formica, who signed for the Rosanero from Blackburn Rovers yesterday.
The Boca Juniors graduate has endured a torrid time in England since his move in 2010, scoring just five goals for Roberto Martinez's side.
Boselli is set to return to Serie A, having spent six months on loan at Genoa in 2011.
