Barcelona and Argentina man Messi won the trophy last year and is up against his club teammate Iniesta, who is fresh from winning Euro 2012.

Ronaldo of Real Madrid and Portugal is the other contender for the silverware, which will be awarded on August 30 after a deciding vote.

Pirlo received 90 points and was way out in front of the chasing pack, such as Xavi Hernandez (57 points), Iker Casillas (53), Didier Drogba (31), Petr Cech and Falcao (14). Mesut Ozil completed the top 10 on 10 points.
