The midfielder was heavily linked with Roberto Mancini’s outfit during last season, as talks on a contract renewal with the Giallorossi stalled.
Even with that deal between Roma and De Rossi now agreed and signed, reports this week indicate that City are prepared to come back in with a €32m bid for the 29-year-old.
It is believed that this amount may be enough to open negotiations, in part down to sporting director Walter Sabatini’s words yesterday on the matter.
“He’s not for sale. But, if Daniele came to us saying that he wanted to leave, or if a club offered an amount we could not refuse, it should be considered,” the ds told the assembled media yesterday.
“That is not to say we would give in to Daniel, but at least we would talk about it.
“Roma cannot be detached from the reality that the movement of players may be necessary for survival.”
