The Tuscan minnows were on the verge of wrapping up a deal for the Arsenal man, before the Old Lady swooped with just two days of the transfer session remaining.
“I admit that we had reached an agreement, but, when Juventus got involved, we knew that the player would be set to choose them instead,” Antonelli told Tutto Juve.
“He would have had an important role here, more so than in Turin when you consider the competition that he faces in attack.
“However, we understood why he opted to join Juve rather than us.”
Siena entertain Juventus in Serie A this weekend. The Dane, 24, has made only one League appearance for the Bianconeri and that has totalled just 13 minutes.
