Roma’s Pablo Osvaldo is happy to be back in the Italian squad after missing out on a place at Euro 2012.
The striker was in contention to make the competition, but a disappointing finish to 2011-12 saw him omitted.
“I didn’t do well towards the end of last term and the Coach was right to not select me,” stated the former Lecce man.
“But the Coach has always shown that he respects my ability and it is only normal that I have to do well for Roma to hope in the national side.”
On Monday, Prandelli suggested that one of the reasons why the Argentine-born ace was ignored was because he looked a bit irritable and tense.
“I think it was more to do with my form, but I can sometimes react to things which are understandable,” he responded. “I don’t want to justify myself and I know I have to improve on that.”
Osvaldo, recalled to the group for the start of Italy’s 2014 World Cup campaign, is being tipped to start in Bulgaria on Friday.
“I had a good pre-season and I have done well in the championship, but you’ll have to ask the Coach whether I will play or not," he said.
“I’ll be delighted if I do get a game and I’ll give my all, but I’m already happy to just be here again.”
