Luciano Spalletti has revealed that he was previously close to becoming the Coach of Italian giants Milan.
“Yes, it’s true,” stated the Zenit St Petersburg tactician to Sky Sport Italia. “Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani contacted me to ask if I was available.
“However, a few days later, he called me and told me that I was free from the agreement that we had made.
“It wasn’t a problem, because I can work anywhere.”
Spalletti will get to boss at San Siro this season after his side were drawn in the same Champions League group as the Diavolo.
“Milan will be the favourites,” the former Roma and Udinese tactician insisted. “Anderlecht, Malaga and ourselves are sides with our own balance.
“It will be a hard group, but I can see Milan doing well after the signings of Nigel De Jong, Giampaolo Pazzini and Cristian Zapata.”
