Pescara President Daniele Sebastiani has reassured Coach Giovanni Stroppa “can relax” despite two consecutive defeats and blamed the referees.

The tactician made the leap from Lega Pro to Serie A for the Delfini, but has started the season with two 3-0 losses to Inter and Torino.

“We are not already doomed to the drop. There are teams far more prestigious than ours who have no points in the table, like Udinese, Palermo and Bologna. Our youngsters will grow and this challenge has just begun, so Stroppa can relax.

“Cristian Terlizzi was wrong to react, but his tension came from a sense of injustice,” Sebastiani told the Corriere dello Sport.

The defender was sent off against Torino and received a three-match ban for insulting the officials.

“Let’s be honest, he was not the last man and should not have been sent off. In fact, looking back at the footage it wasn’t even a penalty, just like the second Torino goal was offside.

“We were also denied a very clear spot-kick against Inter on Weiss. In two games we have already seen three huge errors against us, so why bother having five officials on the pitch if they get it wrong so often?

“We are not making a blatant protest, but we do ask for more care and attention, because we are not in Serie A for a stroll in the park.”
