Italian Under-21 boss Devis Mangia says he’ll have no problem in selecting Fabio Borini and Mattia Destro – if Cesare Prandelli doesn’t call them up them first.
The Liverpool and Roma players are key men at Azzurrini level, but Borini was taken to Euro 2012 and Destro was named in Prandelli’s initial 32-man squad for the competition.
“Destro and Borini are important,” the former Palermo tactician, who has replaced the Sampdoria-bound Ciro Ferrara, told Sky Sport Italia.
“Clearly if they are available then there would be no problem in pairing them together, but they are already in the Giro Azzurro…”
If Prandelli does opt to give the duo a chance for the World Cup qualifiers then Mangia hopes that the championship will deliver him new talent.
“New revelations on the horizon? I don’t want to name anyone in particular. I just hope that there are a lot of Italians who do well.”
