Manchester United have confirmed an interest in Inter target Lucas Moura, but denied that a deal has been done.

Reports this morning suggested that Sao Paulo had accepted a £26m offer from the English giants for the midfielder.

“That is not correct,” boss Sir Alex Ferguson told the club’s official website. “We haven’t reached an agreement for the player.

Reports this morning suggested that Sao Paulo had accepted a £26m offer from the English giants for the midfielder.

“That is not correct,” boss Sir Alex Ferguson told the club’s official website. “We haven’t reached an agreement for the player.

“We’ve shown an interest, but until such a time we get a deal agreed we can’t say that he’s our player.”

The Brazilian international is on the Italian club’s radar even if it seems unlikely that they are ready to invest over €30m for the 19-year-old.

“Lucas is not just a dream but an objective,” President Massimo Moratti noted recently.

“We are certainly thinking about him, but we’ll have to see if there are the conditions in place to close the deal.”
