Maurizio Zamparini has admitted that even if Cagliari do not take up their option on Mauricio Pinilla, the striker won’t be returning to play for Palermo again.

Chilean forward Pinilla joined Cagliari in January on an initial €300,000 cost loan deal from the Rosanero.  Part of that transfer sees that the Rossoblu have the option of making permanent in the summer for a reported €3.7m fee.

Chilean forward Pinilla joined Cagliari in January on an initial €300,000 cost loan deal from the Rosanero.  Part of that transfer sees that the Rossoblu have the option of making permanent in the summer for a reported €3.7m fee.

The forward has netted eight times from 12 appearances for the Sardinian outfit, but even if they do not sign him outright in July, Palermo President Zamparini does not see a future for the in-form hitman in Sicily.

“If Cellino does not want him? I think Cellino will eventually sign him, truthfully” reflected Zamp to Mediagol.it.

“But if they do not then I think he will probably have to find a new home. He has many interested parties.

“I know that he will probably not be willing to stay here and Palermo will also make sure not to have him remain here either.”

There is no love lost between the player and Palermo – Zamparini accused Pinilla of having a bad attitude upon releasing him in January, whilst Pinilla later celebrated scoring against Palermo, much to the disdain of his former teammates.
