Antonio Cassano “wants to be ready for Euro 2012 and is very determined,” confirmed Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli.

The tactician said in his press conference yesterday that he will “wait to the last minute” to bring Giuseppe Rossi and Cassano to the tournament, despite the fact neither has played yet this year.

Cassano underwent heart surgery after suffering a mini-stroke on October 29, but paid visit to the Italy squad ahead of tonight’s friendly with the USA.

“Antonio came to see us and passed on all of his enthusiasm,” revealed Prandelli.

“He wants to be ready for Euro 2012 and is very determined. The three months to the tournament could feel huge and could feel very brief.

“I have only one worry, that in such a tight season I’ll be delivered injured players. I don’t think such an intense wrestling match for the Scudetto can cause problems for the Nazionale. I know the players and realise in these situations you reach June with plenty of fuel in the tank.”

This evening Prandelli has already announced his starting XI, which has the new partnership of Sebastian Giovinco and Alessandro Matri.

“I still need to evaluate some situations and we must be ready for the appointment in June.”
