Ezequiel Lavezzi “expected a victory” over Chelsea, but warned Napoli that “it is not over yet. We need to score at least a goal in London.”
Pocho bagged a brace in tonight’s 3-1 win, fighting back from a Juan Mata opener to give the Partenopei a solid first leg lead.
“I expected a victory tonight and was confident,” revealed Lavezzi. “I think Chelsea are a strong side and it is not over yet.
“We have a good advantage, but we need to go and take the initiative and score at least a goal in London to secure qualification to the next round.
“The Coach told us to help out the team with our defensive movement. We all gave a hand at the back, because that’s what we needed to have a great game. I’d say we achieved it.”
Chelsea had opened the scoring with Juan Mata, but Napoli were 2-1 up by half-time.
“Chelsea scored a bit of a lucky goal after we had been in charge up to that point. Fortunately we equalised pretty quickly and avoided getting too anxious, then reacted the way we did.
“We played a great game and forced Chelsea’s defenders into many mistakes that we took advantage of.”
