Diego Forlan’s involvement in Inter’s first match of 2012 is in doubt following his absence from training on Wednesday.

The Uruguayan striker was forced to sit out the 90-minute session the team held at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium this morning as the result of a knock sustained to his ankle during Tuesday’s workout.

Forlan, who has only just recovered from a thigh strain that saw him miss more than two months of action through autumn, is believed to have suffered a sprained ankle and is now considered a strong doubt for the visit of Parma on Saturday evening.

Jonathan, Wesley Sneijder and Emiliano Viviano all also stayed behind at La Pinetina with Forlan today as they continue recoveries from respective injuries.
