Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis has announced that the club have extended the contract of Christian Maggio.

“We’ve given him a new deal,” the Azzurri President told Radio Marte on Tuesday afternoon. “Maggio will stay here until June 2015.”

The Italian international has been in talks with the Azzurri since the summer over an extension and a positive conclusion has finally arrived.

Maggio, a 29-year-old right wing-back, was previously tied to the Stadio San Paolo outfit until the summer of 2013.

The former Vicenza and Fiorentina man joined Napoli in 2008 from Sampdoria in a deal reportedly worth €8m.

Meanwhile, De Laurentiis added that Slovakian international Marek Hamsik would soon also put pen to paper on a new deal.
