The club need a replacement for Antonio Cassano, who is out for around six months following heart surgery and a mini-stroke.
According to today’s newspapers in Italy, the hot favourites are Chelsea teammates Drogba and Anelka.
“Maxi Lopez is one of the main candidates, but it will cost them to take him away from Catania,” agent Claudio Pasqualin told Radio Sportiva.
“Milan also have to decide whether they want a number 10 or an 11, as in the latter case Adrian Mutu of Cesena would be dropped from the list.
“It’s a real puzzle, though at this moment I think the most likely transfer operation to go through is the one for Drogba, whose contract is set to expire with Chelsea, so he is cheaper than Marco Borriello.”
Ivory Coast international Drogba also has the advantage that he could be used in the Champions League from February, as he has not yet played for Chelsea in the competition this season.
Anelka would be cup-tied, though he is also coming to the end of his current deal at Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, newspapers continue to link the Rossoneri with a summer bid for Ajax midfield talent Christian Eriksen.
