The two parties have been discussing an extension for some time, but a compromise has yet to be reached.

Massimo Briaschi says there is no deadline for a deal to be struck, but he has suggested that it would be wise to wrap up terms as soon as possible.

“Christian would be happy to remain at Napoli,” the agent told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli. “If the club want to reward him for what he has done then he would be honoured.

“If that isn’t the case then we will make some other evaluations because there is certainly not a lack of admirers. Maggio certainly won’t be left unemployed…

“We’re not worried about the situation and if there are the conditions in place to allow the player to sign then he will.

“There is no time limit in place, but if there is no agreement by January or February of 2012 then it is obvious that the player could be targeted by other teams.”

The Italian international right-back, who can also play in midfield, is currently contracted to the Azzurri until June 2013.
