Daniele Arrigoni is ready for his Cesena debut in a relegation dogfight with Lecce and insists “we start from scratch.”
The Coach was drafted in this week for Marco Giampaolo, as they are propping up the table with only three points from nine games.
“I haven’t had much time to think about all that happened, but I am fired up and hope to transmit that to the team,” said Arrigoni.
“I’ve never been so excited before a match. I can’t wait to get out there and step into the Stadio Manuzzi as the Coach of Cesena.
“Obviously we all still need to get to know each other, but I found the players were ready to give their all.”
The tactician is thrown straight in at the deep end with this afternoon’s relegation tussle with penultimate placed Lecce.
“We’ve got to play with great determination, as it’s time to shake off everything that came before and start from scratch.
“We did the work in the training ground and are fit, but now the players just need to rediscover their calm and motivation to express themselves the best way they can. I want to see a change of attitude, not the face of those who think sooner or later something will go wrong. These players have to prove they are not the people we’ve seen so far.
“I would not call this game decisive. Lecce are a team who play well, create chances and in order to beat them we need balance. I also told Adrian Mutu that a few good training sessions and a decent performance are not enough. He has to be consistent and help Cesena win games like the champion he is.”
Arrigoni has an injury crisis on his hands, as Raphael Martinho, Dominique Malonga, Giuseppe Colucci, Jorge Martinez and the suspended Roberto Guana are out of this game.
