Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has told Uruguay to not place the fitness of Edinson Cavani into jeopardy.

Uruguay face Paraguay in the Copa America Final this weekend, but there are doubts over the Napoli ace.

The former Palermo player twisted his knee in a group game against Chile on July 9 and has not played since.

Concerned about the well being of his star striker ahead of the new Serie A campaign, De Laurentiis has issued a warning.

"I'll kill them if they've broken my Edinson," the Stadio San Paolo chief is quoted as saying.

"I don't really care about international competitions, but I just ask Uruguay to take good care of him. If he's not fit then he shouldn't play.

"Uruguay better be careful otherwise I will bring a never ending case against them."

Cavani, 24, was a massive success during his first season in Naples last term thanks to his scoring exploits.

In 47 games across all competitions, he grabbed an impressive 33 goals – 26 of them in Serie A.
