The agent of Gigi Buffon says he is unsure why the future of his client is the cause of so much speculation.

Buffon has been linked with a move away from Juventus given his injury problems over the last year and the fine form of Marco Storari, his understudy in Turin.

However, after reading more transfer stories associating the goalkeeper with the likes of Roma, Silvano Martina has spoken out.

"I'm not surprised by the backing of [Juventus director general] Beppe Marotta, because I don't need to read the newspapers to know what he thinks of Gigi," Martina stated.

"The only thing that is unclear to me is the motive of why there is this constant talk over Buffon. He has two and a half years left on his contract and he is very happy with Juventus."

Martina is also perplexed by the perceived rivalry between the Italy ace and Storari.

"I'm not going to comment because I don't understand why there is a desire to construct trouble," he added.

"There is nothing there because the Coach has always considered Buffon as the No 1."

Storari ably stepped in for the former Parma man at the start of the season until Gigi returned in January after recovering from back surgery.

Buffon then kept his place in the side until a fever and some more back problems saw him miss the last two League games.
