However, the new Italian international has again underlined that he intends to see out the season at Marassi.

"I'm staying," he said. "I'm not thinking about the transfer market, I'm just concentrated on my daily duties with Genoa.

"The rest, for now, is of no interest."

Top of Ranocchia's to-do list is to collect three points on Saturday night against the impressive Napoli.

"They are a strong side and we must be aware of their speed in attack," the former Bari stopper noted.

"However, if we play in the way we know how then we can contain them. We don't envy Napoli at all."
