Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini released a statement attacking “scandalously incompetent” referee Michael Fabbri.
The patron was infuriated by today’s 2-0 defeat to Sampdoria at Marassi and used the club’s official website to release this note.
“The behaviour of referee Fabbri is scandalous,” began the formal statement.
“It is not possible that such an individual, who has to be balanced with his officiating, should instead determine the result of the game and the season.
“If we want to classify the three penalties not awarded to Palermo as ERRORS, then this individual must go to a refereeing school before he provokes further damage on a football field.
“In my long life as a President, I had never seen such incompetence against my teams and such obvious repeated errors.
“I hope the refereeing designators take action. Such examples of unfair decisions hurt their entire profession. I ask also what on earth the additional referees and fourth official are there for.”
