The Brazilian is believed to have been targeted after Stefan De Vrij’s long-term injury, with the Aquile wanting him for an initial €1m and then an obligatory signing fee of €3.5-4m.
However, Dnipro are believed to want an outright sale for the player and could begin their negotiations by asking for €6.5m
LaLazioSiamoNoi have reported that Douglas has already agreed terms with the capital club for a contract worth more than €1m per season until 2020.
The centre-back joined the Ukrainian side in January 2013 and was a central part of the team that impressively finished as runners-up in last season’s Europa League.
