Maurizio Sarri told off Mirko Valdifiori after Napoli failed to break down Carpi in a goalless draw.

The Partenopei had won their last two competitive games by 5-0 results against Club Brugge and Lazio, but hit a brick wall at the Stadio Braglia.

“The only way to break the deadlock was through a lucky incident or a moment of magic,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We had several opportunities, but were unable to score. The team is alive and kicking, we tried to win for the entire 90 minutes.

“Carpi were tough and closed down all the spaces. We must remain objective about our performances, without being influenced by comments from the outside.”

Valdifiori returned to midfield in place of Jorginho and was given a stern talking-to by his former Empoli boss.

“I saw him a little slow in his thought process compared to what I know he can give. Jorginho needed a rest, but Valdifiori has to do better, because he had accustomed us to a different level of performance.”
