President Carlo Tavecchio has confirmed the FIGC will support Michel Platini for the Presidency of FIFA.
Tavecchio had hinted at the move yesterday, saying Italian football’s governing body would support UEFA’s nominee, and confirmed the decision in a letter today.
“We will support Michel Platini’s candidacy,” the note to FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke announced.

“We will support Michel Platini’s candidacy,” the note to FIFA general secretary Jerome Valcke announced.
“He is an experienced and knowledgeable executive, and the right person to implement the necessary reforms at FIFA.
“As I have said during the last few weeks, Italy would always back him for FIFA presidency.
“His work and achievements at UEFA confirm his qualities and show that he can help FIFA regain credibility and prestige in such a difficult moment of its history”
The election will take place at an extraordinary FIFA congress on February 26, 2016.
