Roma have sold Croatian defender Tin Jedvaj to Bayer Leverkusen, where he had previously been on loan.

The Croatian international joined the Giallorossi in 2013, but made just two Serie A appearances and was sent on loan to the Bundesliga side in the summer.

The 19-year-old has since nailed down a first team place, making 14 appearances in the League and scoring twice.

“Bayer 04 have agreed a permanent deal with AS Roma to sign Croatia international Tin Jedvaj [19] with 18 months of the loan arrangement still to run,” Leverkusen confirmed on their official website.

“The versatile defender penned a new contract with the Werkself to 30 June 2020.”

The club’s CEO Michael Schade also spoke to the site and spoke of his happiness at completing the signing.

“We’re very happy to secure the signing of a long-term deal with Tin Jedvaj after fair and amicable negotiations with AS Roma.

“He has made outstanding progress over the past few months. Bayer 04 have again demonstrated the commitment to build on young and talented players in the future.

“He will be a key member of our squad over the coming years.”

Jedvaj also told of his happiness after sealing a permanent move to Germany.

“I’m happy. Bayer 04 are the best option for me and good for my development,” the Croatian said.

“I really want to get stuck in at Leverkusen.”
