Delio Rossi said goodbye to Sampdoria after his dismissal. “I arrived quietly and that is how I am leaving.”
The Coach was fired on Monday night after a 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina, though his replacement has not yet been appointed. The club is believed to be making a decision between Sinisa Mihajlovic and Zdenek Zeman.
“This is a day in which I am profoundly disappointed and pained for the end of my story with this club,” wrote Rossi in an open letter on the Sampdoria website.
“I arrived quietly and that is how I am leaving. Permit me to thank the President and the directors who gave me the honour and opportunity of leading the Blucerchiati.
“I also wish to thank all the people who work at Sampdoria and made me feel at home, and the players who put themselves at my disposal right from the first day.
“I also thank the people who care about this team and I urge them to stay close to the players, the club and the new Coach the way they did with me.
“The supporters proved once again a very clear concept: anything and anyone can change, but the club colours and faith in this jersey will remain forever. With affection, Delio Rossi.”
