The Spaniard, currently on a sabbatical after years of success with Barcelona, was expected to join an English club ahead of 2013-14.

However, the former Brescia and Roma player will move to the Bundesliga instead after accepting a three-year contract.

Guardiola will replace Jupp Heynckes at the end of this season.
