Juventus could be without summer signing Lucio for much of the season after he was diagnosed with “a complete tear” of his ankle ligament.

The 34-year-old former Inter defender sprained his right ankle in training on Friday.

“The X-ray and MRI scans have revealed a complete tear of the defender’s anterior talofibular ligament,” revealed a statement on the club website.

It is not clear how long Lucio will be out of action for, but it’s expected to be three to four months.

Juventus could now begin looking on the transfer market for an alternative to the veteran Brazilian.
